Musha Ryu Aikijutsu is one of several branches of the art originally developed by the Takeda Clan of Japan. Its beginnings trace back at least nine centuries to the founding of the clan. Aikijutsu was developed by the Takeda family for life and death combat on the battlefields of feudal Japan, and is as effective today as it was then. Most martial arts today have evolved into sporting events, which have their own merits, but Aikijutsu retains the techniques of the warriors who used it to protect their lives from violent, and often armed assailants. Ethical application of the techniques of Aikijutsu will protect the practitioner from the most violent aggressors.
